How Bumberry Contributes to Nextler’s Sustainability-Focused Ecosystem

As a curated marketplace for responsibly crafted products, Nextler brings together brands that are finding practical ways to make everyday consumption more mindful.

Bumberry is one such brand. Offering reusable diapers as an alternative to conventional disposable options, Bumberry aims to make more sustainable choices accessible to parents. Its journey, which began with a simple desire to find a better diapering option, has grown into a brand focused on creating practical, reusable products for modern families.

How Bumberry Started

Bumberry’s journey began in 2013, when its founder, Kuttikrishnan, an active conservationist, became a father. Looking for an alternative to disposable diapers, which contribute to landfills, the family explored reusable options. Cloth diapers were available, but mainly abroad, and conventional cloth nappies came with their own challenges, including high water and time consumption. This gap led to the idea behind Bumberry, a reusable diaper solution designed with the needs of Indian parents in mind. What started as a simple business idea eventually grew into a nationwide success.

What Was the Difference?

Starting with the idea of a reusable diaper was only the beginning. Bumberry took a hands-on approach to bringing that idea to life, choosing to manage the entire journey of its products in-house. From researching and designing to developing customised fabrics, production, quality checking, packing and shipping, the brand handles every step of the process.

That level of involvement gives Bumberry greater control over the details at every stage, from the materials that go into its products to the consistency of the finished diaper. The focus is not only on making a reusable diaper, but on creating something that is comfortable, functional and practical for everyday use. Today, Bumberry manufactures over 5 million cloth diapers each year, showing how this approach has grown alongside the brand.

Something for Every Little Personality

Sustainability doesn't have to mean giving up on personality or choice. Bumberry brings that idea into its reusable diapers through a wide variety of prints and designs, giving parents the freedom to choose styles that suit their little ones.

From playful patterns to colourful designs, the prints add a fun element to something that is very much an everyday essential. It's a small detail, but one that makes reusable diapering feel more personal and enjoyable.

Making Everyday Choices More Thoughtful

What began with a father looking for a better diapering option has grown into a brand that is rethinking how an everyday essential can be made and used. From taking control of the entire production process to giving parents a choice of reusable diapers in a variety of prints, Bumberry brings together practicality, quality and thoughtful design.

The Impact

As Bumberry has grown, so has the impact of choosing reusable over disposable. Today, the Bumberry community has helped keep more than 250 million disposable diapers out of landfills.

A disposable diaper can take up to 300 years to break down. Reusable diapers offer a different approach, where the same set can be washed and used again throughout a child’s diapering journey, and even passed on to the next little one.

It is this shift from a single-use product to something that can be used, cared for and used again that makes each choice count. When adopted by families over time, those individual choices can add up to a much larger impact.

Stories From the Community

For some families, the Bumberry experience goes beyond the product itself. One long-time customer shares their experience:

"Bumberry has been extremely supportive and helpful. I was struggling to find washable diapers for a 15-year-old boy, and they provided me with a customized size. I have been their customer since 2013 and their service has always been excellent. Highly recommended."

Bumberry’s journey also reflects the kind of thinking behind Nextler: finding practical alternatives that fit naturally into everyday life. And perhaps that’s the bigger idea behind it all. Making more mindful choices doesn't always mean changing everything. Sometimes, it can start with the everyday products we choose.
